The Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) is a program that helps students explore their relationship with alcohol and explore changes that might enhance health and wellness. Prior to the first meeting, students will complete an online self-assessment which will generate a personalized feedback report. During the first session, the student and a counselor will discuss the personalized feedback and explore whether the information is consistent with their health and wellness goals. Collaboratively, the student and counselor will pick a “behavior experiment” for the students to try in between sessions. During the last meeting, the counselor and student will explore their behavior experiment and discuss a plan for future healthy choices and behavior.
